Argos sports briefs: Girls soccer suffers first loss to John Glenn, falls to No. 5

Girls soccer

The Argos girls soccer team went 1-1 at the Argos Invitational Saturday and now stands at 5-1-1 on the season.

Argos defeated LaPorte LaLumiere 7-2 and lost to John Glenn 2-0.

Lilly Hines scored twice and dished out an assist in the LaPorte LaLumiere game. Hannah Trump also had two goals. Emma Dunlap added a goal and an assist. Hannah Trump, Kadyn Baughman and Aryanna Allen also scored.

Argos had a 16-6 advantage in shots on goal.

In the John Glenn game, the Lady Falcons scored one goal in each half and limited Argos to two shots on goal.

Argos dropped from No. 4 to No. 5 in this week’s Class 1A coaches poll.

They host Warsaw at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Westview-Argos start time changed: Start time for the Westview-Argos girls soccer game on Sept. 24 has been pushed back to 7:30 p.m. at Argos.

Boys soccer

Argos 6, LaVille 0 (Tuesday): Teddy Redinger had three goals and an assist for the host Dragons (2-2) in a win over LaVille at Eugene Snyder Stadium Tuesday.

Kayden Brady added two goals, and Wyatt Tanner also scored and had an assist.

Vladimir Bernard had three assists, and Sean Richard also had a helper.

Argos had an 18-0 advantage in shots on goal.

Argos led 2-0 at halftime.

Argos 2, Faith Christian 0 (Friday): Teddy Redinger and Ethan Petz scored a minute apart within the first 10 minutes, and Kurt Johnson stopped three shots for the shutout as the host Dragons (1-2) beat Faith Christian at Eugene Snyder Field Friday.

Nate Manikowski had an assist.

Argos had a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Argos honored all its living coaches during a halftime ceremony: Eugene Snyder, Tim Van Duyne, Jeff O’Dell, Myron Bontreger and current coach Todd VanDerWeele.

Argos schedule changes: Argos’ game against South Bend Riley scheduled for Saturday will start at 10 a.m. at South Bend Riley.

Argos’ game against Elkhart Christian that was suspended due to lightning on Aug. 24 will be resumed at 8 p.m. Sept. 16 at Elkhart Christian. Argos was leading 3-1 with 33:58 left when the game was suspended. Teddy Redinger had scored all three goals at the time the game was stopped.

Cross-country

Argos meet at LaVille canceled: A four-way cross-country meet scheduled for LaVille on Sept. 27 has been canceled. Argos was one of the teams scheduled to compete.

Volleyball

Argos at LaVille, canceled: The Argos-LaVille volleyball match scheduled for Thursday has been canceled. No reason was cited for the cancellation.
