Argos sports briefs: Hines scores 11 goals in 4 games as Lady Dragons off to 3-0-1 start

Girls soccer

Argos 8, Elkhart Christian 3 (Tuesday): Lilly Hines scored four goals to lead the Class 1A, No. 4 Lady Dragons past conference rival Elkhart Christian Tuesday.

Aryanna Allen scored twice, and Emma Dunlap also scored. Argos also tallied on an Elkhart Christian own goal.

Argos scored the first six goals and led 6-1 at halftime.

Argos had a 15-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Hines, Dunlap, Morgyn Barcus and Carleigh Miller had one assist each.

Lady Dragons drop to No. 4: The Argos girls soccer team dropped from No. 1 to No. 4 in this week’s Indiana Soccer Coaches Association Class 1A poll. Argos is the only team ranked from Sectional 35.

Argos 3, Northwestern 0 (Saturday): Lilly Hines had a goal and an assist within the first three minutes of the game, and Lizzy Edmonds stopped 11 shots in goal for the shutout as the Class 1A, No. 1 Lady Dragons blanked visiting Northwestern Saturday.

Hines assisted Aryanna Allen’s goal in the first minute and scored off a Hannah Trump feed in the third minute.

Emma Dunlap scored the final goal in the 76th minute.

Northwestern had an 11-6 advantage in shots on goal. Argos improved to 2-0-1.

Argos 3, Plymouth 3 (Aug. 19): Lilly Hines notched a hat trick for Class 1A, No. 1 Argos in a road tie with Class 2A, No. 18 Plymouth Aug. 19.

Bella Stults and Emma Dunlap each had an assist.

Argos rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead before Plymouth scored the equalizer in the 65th minute.

Plymouth had a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The game featured a 30-minute lightning delay in the first half.

Argos is 1-0-1.

Argos 5, Kankakee Valley 2 (Aug. 17): Lilly Hines notched a hat trick, and Hannah Trump also had a goal for Argos, the top-ranked team in Class 1A, in their season opener against Kankakee Valley at Eugene Snyder Field Aug. 17.

Lizzy Edmonds had four saves in goal.

Argos had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Argos led 2-1 at halftime.

Boys soccer

Redinger scores 3 goals, but game at Elkhart Christian suspended: The Argos-Elkhart Christian boys soccer game was suspended after 46 minutes Tuesday. Argos led 3-1 at the time the game was stopped.

Teddy Redinger scored all three Argos goals. He now has 43 career goals, which places him 10th on the all-time Argos scoring list.

Redinger passed Spencer VanDerWeele and Owen Nifong on the career scoring list during the game.

Damon Binkley holds the all-time Argos scoring record with 130 goals.

Argos hosts Faith Christian at 7 p.m. Friday.

Oak Hill 2, Argos 0 (Saturday): Evan Pearce and Isaac Gegner scored for Oak Hill in a road win over Argos at Eugene Snyder Field Saturday.

Kurt Johnson had one savel for Argos. Each team had three shots on goal for the game.

Argos dropped to 0-2.
