Argos ‘Stacks’ up well vs. Elkhart Christian, advances to sectional final

Argos 7, Elkhart Christian 0 (Tuesday): Ivy Stackhouse pitched a three-hitter with 16 strikeouts, and Ava Stackhouse had three hits and three RBIs for Argos in a blanking of Elkhart Christian in a Class 1A, Sectional 51 semifinal at South Central (Union Mills) Tuesday.

Adelyn Lewark also singled and doubled as part of an eight-hit Lady Dragon attack. Ivy Stackhouse, Maddie Overmeyer and Allison Mark each added a single. Jenny Peters had a sacrifice fly.

Brianna Ehninger had a single and a double, and Naomi Herbster also singled for Elkhart Christian.

Ivy Stackhouse retired the side in order in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Elkhart Christian had runners at first and second with nobody out in the seventh, but Ivy Stackhouse struck out the final three batters to end the game.

Elkhart Christian committed five errors that led to four unearned runs. Argos had no errors.

Argos, who has never won a sectional title in softball, will play either North Judson or South Central in the sectional final at 11 a.m. Eastern Saturday.
