Bailey finishes 4th at Age Group Championship

Bailey, Thomas both win Junior Tour events in Monticello

Rochester resident Olivia Bailey finished fourth out of 20 golfers in the girls 15-year-old division at the Age Group Championship at The Golf Club at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth on June 21-22.

Bailey shot rounds of 75-76 for a 151 total for the 36-hole event.

Fort Wayne’s Taylor Larkins won with a 142.

Other Rochester resident competing at Swan Lake included Ava Thomas, who finished 11th out of 16 golfers in the girls 16-year-old age group. She shot an 87-83 for a 170 total.

New Market’s Addison Meadows won by 11 strokes with a 146.

In the boys 17-year-old age group, Rochester’s Noah Riffle shot rounds of 84-79 for a 163 total and finished in a tie for 17th place out of a field of 24.

Urbana’s Tyson Baer shot consecutive 73s for a 146 total and won by one stroke.

Riffle will be a senior at Rochester in 2023-24, Thomas will be a junior, and Bailey will be a sophomore.

Bailey and Thomas were among those RTC area golfers who won their age group in a Junior Tour event at Tippecanoe Country Club in Monticello on June 6.

Bailey shot a 76 to win the girls 13-15-year-old age group. She shot a 76 in the 18-hole event.

Molly Moore shot a 102 and finished seventh out of eight.

As for Thomas, she shot an 89 to win the girls 16-19-year-old age group by one stroke. She bested a field of 17.

In the boys 16-19-year-old division, Kewanna’s A.J. Dague shot a 90 and finished sixth in a field of 11.

Dague is a 2023 Caston grad.

Moore will be an eighth-grader at Rochester Middle School in 2023-24.
