Bauman’s club soccer team advances to nationals in Tampa

Rochester resident Carter Bauman, 14, plays for Elkhart County United Soccer Club on its 2011 B Gold team, which played both Indiana Soccer League and Elite Clubs National League this past spring season.
The team was a semifinalist at the Midwest Presidents Cup at the Creve Coeur Park Sports Complex in St. Louis last weekend, earning them a spot at the national championship tournament in Tampa July 11-15. Bauman’s team is one of just eight teams to make the national championship tournament.
The team won the boys 14-and-under age group played at the Indiana Presidents Cup earlier this month in Westfield to earn their spot at the Midwest Presidents Cup.
Bauman made the team through a tryout last fall.
