Bernicky, Myers power Valley past Peru

Tippecanoe Valley 6, Peru 5 (Wednesday): Markus Bernicky doubled and homered and drove in three runs, and Evan Myers allowed one earned run over 5 ⅔ innings for the win as the visiting Vikings beat Peru Wednesday.
Myers also had a hit and an RBI at the plate. Annikan Pettit had a double, and Cody Smith and Cameron Manuel each had a single.
Bernicky and Bobby Burke scored two runs each.
Myers allowed five hits and three runs. He walked two and struck out four. Bernicky allowed two hits and two runs (both earned) over the final 1 ⅓ innings. He walked one and fanned four.
Valley broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the fourth and added three more in the fifth to make it 5-1. After Peru cut the deficit to 5-3, Valley scored in the top of the seventh to make it 6-3.
Peru scored two in the bottom of the seventh.
Valley is 2-1 in the TRC. They are tied for second place, one game behind first-place Rochester.
