Bernicky, Pettit help Valley slug past NorthWood

Tippecanoe Valley 14, NorthWood 7 (Thursday): Markus Bernicky singled, doubled and tripled and drove in four runs, and Annikan Pettit had two singles and a triple and two RBIs for Valley in a road win over NorthWood Friday.
Hunter Craft, Cody Smith and Noah Prater added two hits each. Craft also stole three of Valley’s eight bases.
Cameron Manuel went hitless but had three RBIs, and Evan Myers went hitless but had two RBIs. Smith and Isaac Ramsey also had an RBI.
Prater pitched the first four innings and got the win, and Myers pitched the final three innings for the save.
Prater allowed five hits and five runs (three earned) while walking one, hitting a batter and striking out two. Myers relieved after a rain delay and allowed five hits and two runs (both earned) while walking none and striking out five.
NorthWood used five pitchers, and Valley scored off four of them. NorthWood pitchers walked nine and hit two batters, and the Panthers also committed four errors.
Valley improved to 3-3. They will travel to Wawasee for a four-team tournament Saturday. Valley will play DeKalb while Wawasee will play Jimtown.
