Bethel University has named Cameron Screeton its new baseball coach in a social media post.
“I am thrilled to welcome Coach Screeton to the Bethel family,” Bethel athletic director Jason Lewkowicz said in a statement. “Throughout the hiring process, he stood out as a tremendous leader and coach who understood our mission to be Christ-centered, culturally driven, and competitively excellent. Coach Screeton’s commitment to faith-filled coaching, his track record as a proven recruiter and developer of talent, and background in the Crossroads League will set him up to make an immediate impact on our baseball program.”
Screeton was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Olivet Nazarene University the previous two years.
This will be Screeton’s second college head coaching position. He also was the interim coach in 2017 and the head coach in 2018 at Grace College.
He was an assistant coach at MidAmerica Nazarene University from 2019-22 and an assistant coach at Taylor University from 2023-24.
He played collegiately at Indiana Wesleyan from 2012-15.
Screeton said in a statement that he was “humbled” to be named coach.
“Being part of an institution where faith is at the forefront and the opportunity to develop student athletes in all areas of life is truly special to me,” Screeton said in a statement. “I look forward to getting to work with the guys this fall.”
Bethel is coming off a 10-33 season. The season ended with a 14-0 loss to St. Francis April 29 in the Crossroads League Tournament.
Screeton will replace Seth Zartman, who announced in February that he would step down after 23 seasons as coach at season’s end and move into an Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Operations role within the Bethel athletic department.
Screeton is the brother-in-law of Rochester boys basketball coach Luke Smith and the brother-in-law of Tippecanoe Valley athletic director Alexa Holland.
Screeton is a 2011 Rochester grad.
Zartman is a 1994 Caston grad.
Current Caston senior catcher Gavin Mollenkopf is a Bethel recruit.
