Boys basketball
North Judson 63, Culver 36 (Wednesday): Caleb McCuen hit five 3-pointers and scored 18 points, but the host Culver boys basketball team lost to North Judson in a Class 1A, Sectional 51 quarterfinal at John R. Nelson Gymnasium Wednesday.
McCuen scored 15 of his points in the second half.Â
Braylon Jackson added eight, Jonas McCuen had six, and John Carr had four.
Zander Nowak scored 10 of his team-high 12 in the first half for the Blue Jays. Christian Ingram added 11, and Javen Christensen had 10. Ten different North Judson players scored.
North Judson scored the first 12 points of the game and never trailed. Culver trailed 33-11 at halftime.
Culver has not beaten North Judson since Dec. 27, 2016.
North Judson (8-16) earned a semifinal meeting with South Central (Union Mills) at 8 p.m. Friday. South Central knocked out Elkhart Christian 47-38 in Wednesday’s other quarterfinal.
Culver finished 8-16.
