C. McCuen strikes out 17, leads Culver past rival Argos

Culver 8, Argos 1 (April 12): Caleb McCuen allowed one hit and one run over 6 ⅓ innings while walking five and striking out 17 for the host Cavaliers in a win over sectional rival Argos on April 12.

Hayden Parker got the final two outs in the seventh for Culver, allowing one hit and striking out one.

Jonas McCuen singled, doubled and drove in a run, and Caleb McCuen added a single and an RBI. Parker tripled and scored a run. Derek McKee singled, walked and drove in two runs. Cameron Whitworth also had a hit and a run scored.

Mason Hibner and William Barenie each had a single for Argos.

Jackson Kindig took the loss, allowing four hits and five runs (four earned) in three innings. He walked one and struck out five. Kyle Bradley allowed no earned runs in 1 ⅔ innings of relief while walking one and striking out three. Nate Manikowski pitched 1 ⅓ innings and allowed one hit and one earned run while walking one and fanning three.

Argos committed three errors which led to three unearned runs for Culver.

Culver scored four runs in the first and never trailed.

This marked Culver’s first win over Argos since April 11, 2018.
