Boys finish 3rd behind Dunwoody, Bailey

Led by individual event winners Allyson Calloway, Kyra Doran and Ella Hake, the Rochester girls track team scored 114.5 points and finished third out of eight teams at the Tipton Invitational Friday.

Calloway won the 3,200 meters in 12:16, edging Western’s Mary Claire DiPaola by three seconds. Calloway also placed second in the 1,600 in 5:45.

Doran won the long jump with a leap of 16-7, beating McCutcheon’s Miriam Gilbert by five inches.

Hake was one of four high jumpers to clear 4-6 but was declared the winner based on fewest misses.

Kyla Conley was second in the 100 hurdles and also joined Doran, Maddie Bailon and Maddie MacLain on the 4 x 100 relay team that finished second.

MacLain was also third in the pole vault (8-0) and long jump (15-0).

Harrison Dunwoody Grant Bailey Mason Hisey

In the boys meet, Rochester had no individual or relay champions, but Harrison Dunwoody finished second in both the 110 hurdles and the long jump, Grant Bailey was second in the 800, and Mason Hisey was second in the discus. The 4 x 800 relay, which consisted of Bailey, Tyson Wachtmann, Evan Rudd and Leandro Javier, took second in 8:49.

The 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays both finished fourth.

McCutcheon won the girls team title with 167 points and the boys team title with 196.5 points.
