Rochester 14, Carroll (Flora) 2 (6 innings, Friday): Parker Casper had two hits and three RBIs, Conner Dunfee did not allow an earned run and struck out eight over five innings on the mound while also adding two RBIs at the plate as the Rochester baseball team beat host Carroll Friday.
Brayson Flory added a single and a double and drove in a run, and Dunfee, Carson Paulik and Linden Wilburn had one hit each.
Wilburn, Zakk Parks, Brant Beck and Braylon Smith contributed one RBI each.
Carroll pitchers walked six and hit three batters, and the Cougar defense committed seven errors that led to six unearned runs for the Zebras.
Rochester scored four runs in the top of the first and never trailed. The inning included RBI singles from Casper and Flory and Beck’s squeeze bunt.
Smith’s RBI hit-by-pitch in the third made it 5-2, and two unearned runs in the fourth made it 7-2.
Rochester then poured on seven more runs in the sixth, which Casper capped with a two-run single.
Carroll did not put a man in scoring position after the third inning. Flory struck out two in a perfect sixth inning to close it out.
