L. Mollenkopf scores 24 in home win over Culver

Boys basketball

Caston 66, Delphi 53 (Saturday): Logan Mollenkopf scored nine of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter, and Lane Hook added 21 for the visiting Comets in a win over Delphi Saturday.

Carson Harness added seven, and Gavin Mollenkopof had six.

Caston hit nine 3-pointers as compared to Delphi’s five. Caston also outscored the Oracles 9-4 from the foul line.

Caston jumped out to a 20-7 lead after one quarter. They snapped Delphi’s four-game winning streak.

The teams have split their last four meetings.

Caston 52, Culver 28 (Friday): Logan Mollenkopf scored 24 points, and Lane Hook added 11, all in the first half, as the host Comets coasted past Culver to improve to 2-0 in the Hoosier North Friday.

Owen Chapman added six points, and Carson Harness had five for Caston, who jumped out to a 15-2 lead after one quarter and extended it to 27-9 at halftime.

Caleb McCuen scored 13 points for the Cavaliers (2-7, 0-3 Hoosier North).

The 28 points allowed were a season low for the Caston defense.

Caston beat Culver for the eighth consecutive year.
