Caston boys basketball update: Stinson scores 15 as Comets edge Argos by 1

Hook scores 13 in home loss to Triton; Caston routs sectional rival North White

Caston 36, North Judson 32 (Friday): Grant Yadon scored 11 points, and Talon Zeider added nine as the Comets earned a Hoosier North home win over North Judson at the Launching Pad Friday.

Jesiah McDaniel had 11, and Kole Wilcox added nine for North Judson.

Caston led 14-11 at halftime and extended the lead to 25-17 after three quarters.

Caston improved to 9-9, and they have exceeded last year’s win total. They are 3-2 in the Hoosier North.

North Judson fell to 11-7, 1-5. The home team won the Caston-North Judson for the fourth straight year.

Caston 45, Argos 44 (Tuesday): Caleb Stinson scored 15 points, and Talon Zeider added 10 for the visiting Comets in a win over Argos at Phil Weybright Gymnasium Tuesday.

Grant Yadon added eight, and Alex Craig had five.

Sean Richard scored 27 points, and Luke Stults had 10 for Argos.

Caston led 24-23 at halftime before increasing their lead to 40-32 after three quarters.

Argos had won the previous seven meetings between the teams. Caston beat Argos for the first time since February 2015.

Triton 54, Caston 44 (Feb. 3): Freshman forward Lane Hook scored 13 points, and Caleb Stinson and Grant Yadon added nine apiece, but the Comets lost a Hoosier North home game to Triton on Feb. 3.

Gage Riffle scored 18 points, and Tanner Witt-Hoyo added 15 for Triton, who led the entire way after building a 20-6 lead after one quarter.

Caston lost despite making more free throws (14) than Triton attempted (10).

Caston lost at home to Triton for the first time since February 2018.

Caston 60, North White 37 (Feb. 1): Caleb Stinson scored 23 points, and Talon Zeider hit three 3-pointers and added 17 for Caston in a home win over sectional rival North White Feb. 1.

Lane Hook added eight, and Grant Yadon and Alex Craig had six each.

Caston led 30-15 at halftime and extended the lead to 46-27 after three quarters.

Dane Hook led the Vikings with 12 points, but North White attempted just three free throws.

The teams have split their last six meetings.

Caston also won the JV game 62-11. Gage Thomas had 21 points, Josh Evans had 11, Reed Sommers had 10, Kaemen Lee had six, Carson Harness had six, Max Sommers had five, and Kameron Clingler had three.
