Stinson’s 30 leads Comets past Pioneer

Boys basketball
Tri-County 65, Caston 58 (Saturday): Talon Zeider hit four 3-pointers and scored 22 points, and Caleb Stinson added 21, but the visiting Caston boys basketball team lost to sectional rival Tri-County Saturday.
Stinson scored 15 points in the first half with Caston facing a 33-32 halftime deficit.
Tri-County extended the lead to 41-38 after three quarters.
Zeider scored 12 points in the fourth quarter, but Tri-County’s Eric Zarse scored nine of his game-high 24 in the fourth quarter.
Lane Hook hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter and added eight for the Comets.
Tri-County (8-7) is the only team with a winning record in Class 1A, Sectional 52, and they are 5-0 against other teams in the sectional. They are also the defending sectional champion.
Caston fell to 6-8.

Caston 56, Pioneer 47 (Friday): Caleb Stinson scored 13 of his game-high 30 points in the first quarter, and the host Comets earned their second win of the season over Pioneer Friday.
Stinson also scored nine points in the fourth quarter as Caston pulled away after leading 37-33.
Grant Yadon added six points for Caston, who improved to 6-7 overall and 2-1 in the Hoosier North.
Drew McKaig scored 13 points for Pioneer. He scored his 1,000th career point during the game.
Shiloh Rine added 11.
Caston made more free throws (13) than Pioneer attempted (5).
Caston also beat Pioneer 63-34 at Logansport in the Cass County Invitational consolation game on Dec. 1.
