Caston gets off to 13-0 start, hands Lewis Cass first loss at Cass County Invite

Caston 53, Lewis Cass 28 (Wednesday): Isabel Scales scored 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out seven assists and added five steals for the Class 1A, No. 4 Lady Comets in a home rout of Lewis Cass in the first round of the Cass County Invitational Wednesday.
Addison Zimpleman added 13 points and six rebounds, and Madi Douglass had 10 points and five steals. Macee HInderlider contributed nine points and six rebounds.
Caston’s defense held Lewis Cass to 27 percent shooting and forced 17 turnovers. They jumped out to a 13-0 lead after one quarter and never trailed in handing Class 2A, No. 11 Lewis Cass their first loss.
Caston (7-0) was coming off a 15-day layoff since beating Rossville on Nov. 14.
Kinsey Mennen led Lewis Cass (5-1) with 11 points.
Caston will play Pioneer in the tournament title game at 8:15 p.m. Saturday at Logansport. Pioneer beat Logansport 48-45 on Tuesday. Caston is the defending tournament champion.
