Caston girls basketball roundup: Craig scores 15, helps Lady Comets eliminate N. White

Caston 33, North White 28 (Tuesday): Allison Craig hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points to lead Caston a win over host North White in a Class 1A, Sectional 50 quarterfinal Tuesday.
Grace Colvin made all five of her free throws and had seven along with a team-high four assists. Adyson Steininger made two 3-pointers and had six. Madi Douglass, who came in averaging 17 points per game, was held to five, but she led the team with seven rebounds.
Ella Hunt scored 16 points for North White, whose four-game winning streak was snapped and who finished 6-15. Autumn Reif had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Caston improved to 11-12 and beat North White for the second time in Monon this season. They also won their regular season meeting 48-41 Nov. 14.
Caston led 17-13 at halftime and extended the lead to 26-19 after three quarters.
Caston will play Pioneer at 6 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.

Madi Douglass scored a game-high 24 points thanks to 24 free throw attempts as the visiting Lady Comets beat sectional rival DeMotte Christian in their regular season finale Saturday.
Allison Craig added eight, and Grace Colvin and Adyson Steininger had six each.
Douglass made 13 free throws. The game featured 47 fouls and 60 free throw attempts.
Cassie Nanninga led the Lady Knights with 16, and Mackenzie Bult added 10.
Caston jumped out to a 14-6 lead after one quarter and maintained a 27-19 halftime advantage.
