Caston girls put 3 in double figures, but fall to Maconaquah

Maconaquah 54, Caston 41 (Monday): Allison Craig led three Caston players in double figures with 15 points, and she also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds in a loss to host Maconaquah in the first round of the Miami County Invitational Monday.
Madi Douglass added 13 points and a team-high six assists, and Grace Colvin hit a pair of 3-pointers and added 10 for the Lady Comets, who could not hold onto an eight-point lead after one quarter and fell to 7-6.
Five of Caston’s losses have been to higher-class teams.
Ireland Kile had 13 points, and Delaney Betzner and Addie Maiben had 12 each for Maconaquah, who won their fifth straight game and improved to 11-2.
Caston led 19-11 after one quarter and still led 23-22 at halftime. The Lady Braves claimed a 40-30 lead after three quarters.
Caston will play North Miami in the consolation game at noon Tuesday. Maconaquah will play Peru in the championship game at 6 p.m.
Peru edged North Miami 37-36 in the other first round game.
