The IHSAA has named Caston’s Madi Douglass to its Student Advisory Committee for the 2025-26 school year.

Douglas is one of 18 student-athletes – nine juniors, nine seniors – that will receive “hands-on leadership experience through several IHSAA-sponsored events as well as serve as a voice to the IHSAA staff,” according to an IHSAA media release.

Caston principal Chuck Evans nominated Douglass. From the nominations that they receive from school principals, the IHSAA selects 21 for interviews by members of the IHSAA Executive Committee and returning members of the SAC.

According to a release from the Caston athletics website, the IHSAA received “over 80” nominations before deciding on the 21 to grant interviews.

From those interviews, nine incoming juniors are invited to join the nine returning seniors.

The SAC meets four times annually – twice each semester – and is responsible for hosting meetings with student peers at the Fall Area Principals Meetings, assisting with the awards ceremonies at IHSAA state championship events throughout the school year, planning and administering the annual IHSAA Student Leadership Conference and to engage in and support the activities of Special Olympics Indiana including the Unified Track and Field and Unified Flag Football State Tournaments.

“Madi was an easy choice to put up for the nomination, and I’m not surprised the interview committee saw the same traits that we see daily,” Caston athletic director Trent Tocco said in the Caston athletic department’s media release. “She’s a tremendous asset to our teams and athletic department – the way she goes about her business, whether it’s on the floor or in the classroom, she sets the bar. I have zero doubts she’ll be an asset to the IHSAA SAC. We’re proud to have her representing Caston Junior-Senior High School.”

Douglass plays volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter and track in the spring.
