Caston’s Holloway goes 3 for 3 in loss to LCC

Lafayette Central Catholic 24, Caston 7 (Tuesday): Eli Holloway went 3 for 3 with two doubles and a single, and he added two RBIs for Class 1A, No. 10 Caston in a loss to Class 2A, No. 6 Lafayette Central Catholic Tuesday.

Carson Harness and Tucker Woolever each had a single and two RBIs, and London Herd had a hit and an RBI. Parker Zimpleman had a double, and Gavin Mollenkopf had a single.

Noah Herd walked three times and scored a run, and Logan Mollenkopf walked twice and scored twice.

Holloway started on the mound and allowed three runs over three innings. Noah Herd relieved and allowed six hits and 12 runs (seven earned) over three innings. He walked seven, hit two batters and struck out one. Ryden Craig pitched one-third of an inning and allowed a hit and six runs while walking five and striking out one. Geoffery Foster pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed three hits and three runs (all earned) while walking two and striking out one.

Already leading 8-7, the Knights scored 16 runs in the top of the seventh to pull away.

The teams combined for 26 walks and 10 hit batters.

This was Caston’s first game after reaching the top 10 in the Class 1A polls this season.

The win was the 700th career win for Lafayette Central Catholic Tim Bordenet.
