Boys soccer game called at halftime due to lightning

Caston def. Lewis Cass, 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 19-25, 15-12 (Tuesday): Maddi Smith had 17 kills, and Addison Zimpleman and Isabel Scales had 12 points each for Caston in a road win over Lewis Cass Tuesday.

Scales, Abby Williamson and Bailey Harness contributed nine kills each. Smith and Williamson had two blocks each.

Scales had 29 digs and 24 serves received. Zimpleman had 23 digs and 17 serves received. Smith had 21 digs and 22 serves received.

Delaney Lowry had a team-high 23 assists, and Annie Harsh had 19.

“The Comets stayed mentally tough and pulled out the win in the fifth set,” Caston coach Melinda Shultz said in a statement. “Maddi Smith and Isabel Scales did a nice job hitting the ball, and our setters Delaney Lowry and Annie Harsh moved the ball around well, and everyone else put the ball down when they had the opportunity.”

Lewis Cass defeated Caston 25-10, 25-12 in the JV match. Shultz reported that Haley Logan, Tayler Shafer and Breeona Laurence led in serving.
