Caston 2, Tippecanoe Valley 2 (Thursday): Rowan Jellison and Jan Aguilar-Mendez scored for Caston in a home tie with Tippecanoe Valley at the Comet Crater Thursday.
“Overall, we played sound soccer,” Caston coach Narciso Sanchez said in a statement. “We gave up a PK and let (Valley) score in counter play. We saw most of the possession, but we’ve got to get better at recognizing the dangers of poor player placement when play is in the offensive third. All of the kids really showed some grit today and played with intensity for 80 minutes. Our kids on the bench were integral in their minutes as well as their vocal ability off pitch.”
Sanchez also cited Aguilar-Mendez and Zach Rogers, both freshmen for their “important minutes.” He also called Colby Pugh “creative” and “dangerous” and he cited Caleb Stinson, Kade Zeider, Talon Zeider, Ryan Spin and goalkeeper Bailey Zimpleman for a “great showing” on defense.
