Winamac 49, South Newton 23 (Saturday): Russell Compton and Ryan Gregor scored 13 points each for the host Warriors in a win over South Newton Saturday.
Compton and Gregor also combined to make four of Winamac’s five 3-pointers.
Trent Fox and Beau Brandt added five points each.
Winamac led 19-5 at halftime.
The 23 points allowed were the fewest for Winamac since a 58-21 win over Triton in December 2018.
This marked the first meeting between Winamac and South Newton since Feb. 26, 2015. Both teams were in the Midwest Conference at the time. Winamac has not lost to South Newton since Feb. 16, 2010.
