Volleyball
Triton def. Culver, 25-12, 27-25, 25-13 (Thursday): Brynn Berndt had seven kills, and Tyra King added five, but Culver fell to Triton in a Class 1A, Sectional 50 quarterfinal at Marquette Catholic Thursday.
Culver went 0-3 against Triton for the season and finished 15-15. They have not won a volleyball sectional title since 2011.
Triton will face Argos, who received a bye, in the semifinals at noon Eastern Saturday in the semifinals. Westville and Marquette Catholic will meet in the other semifinal at approximately 1:30 p.m., and the winners return at 7 p.m. for the title.
Grace Sieber led with six assists and 10 digs. Ashley Pugh had four assists and eight digs. Shelby Olivarez had 32 serves received. Berndt added 16, and Avery Garland had 10 to go along with her seven digs.
The match ended the prep careers for seniors Sieber, Garland, Olivarez and Willow Harrington.
Triton (25-5) came in ranked No. 18 in Class 1A in the final IndianaPrepVolleyball.com ratings.
