Culver girls basketball briefs: Shedrow’s 32 points,21 rebounds highlight win over SB Career Academy

Girls basketball

Culver 57, South Bend Career Academy 39 (Wednesday): Maddie Shedrow scored 32 points and grabbed 21 rebounds for Culver in a home win over South Bend Career Academy Wednesday.

Grace Sieber hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10. Lizzie Pugh had four points to go with her 13 rebounds.

Culver won despite making just 2 of 14 free throws.

Gabby Terrell had 16 points, Haley Saunders had 12, and Kayla Howell had 11 for South Bend Career Academy, a Class 2A school.

Culver, who snapped a seven-game losing streak and improved to 5-10, led 26-17 at halftime.

South Bend Career Academy (2-13) has lost 11 straight games.

Bremen 53, Culver 25 (Monday): Baleigh Binkley and Maddie Shedrow had nine points each for Culver in a home loss to Bremen in a Bi-County Tournament quarterfinal Monday.

Maegan Pearl had five points, and Lizzie Pugh had two.

Ellia Foster had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Katie Moyer had 16 points for Bremen, who led 25-14 at halftime.

Bremen won their fourth straight game to improve to 9-8. They also beat Culver in the Bi-County Tournament for the second straight year.

Culver has not beaten Bremen since December 2014.

Triton 66, Culver 22 (Friday): Grace Sieber had seven points, five rebounds and two steals for Culver in a road loss to conference and sectional rival Triton Friday.

Maddie Shedrow had four points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Culver shot both 20 percent from the field (9-45) and 20 percent from the foul line (2-10).

Addyson Viers scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for Triton. Kinsey Atkins sunk six 3-pointers and scored 18.

Triton led 25-9 at halftime.

Culver has lost their last seven meetings against the Lady Trojans and has not beaten Triton since a Bi-County Tournament semifinal on Jan. 22, 2015.

Frontier 62, Culver 54 (Jan. 13): Maddie Shedrow drilled four 3-pointers and scored 26 points, but the visiting Lady Cavaliers fell to Frontier on Jan. 13.

Alina Pizur made all four of her field goal attempts and had eight points and six rebounds. Kenzie Banks had six points and 12 rebounds.

Emma Blissett had 22 points, and Lacie Mears hit six treys and scored 19 for Frontier.

Frontier led 23-7 after one quarter and 35-24 at halftime.

The 54 points that Culver scored were the most they have scored in a loss since Dec. 7, 2013.
