The Culver Community School Board hired Austin Foust as its new football coach at a meeting Monday.
Foust spent the 2022 season as the associate head coach at Culver. Foust replaces Mike Zehner, who resigned after seven seasons. Zehner stays on as the school’s athletic director.
Foust has previous head coaching experience at John Glenn, where his teams went 16-34 from 2017-21. He also had previous assistant coaching experience at MOnroe Central and Huntington North high schools.
Foust is a Ball State University and Rochester High School grad. He teaches social studies and STEM at Culver.
Culver went 7-5 in 2022. The season ended with a 54-0 loss to North Judson in the Class 1A, Sectional 41 final.
Culver had four first-team all-Hoosier North players last fall, all of whom graduate – Shane Shuman, Steven Pugh, Ben Lee and Devin Burkett.
Culver has not won a sectional title since 2009.
