Kiser, Akase also score in double figures as Vikings improve to 7-1 in TRC

Tippecanoe Valley 83, Maconaquah 70 (Saturday): Nolan Cumberland scored 17 of his team-high 26 points in the second half to lead four players in double figures, and Class 3A, No. 11 Valley extended their winning streak to 10 with a home win over Maconaquah at Rita Price Simpson Court Saturday.
Riley Shepherd hit three 3-pointers and scored a season-high 17 points, Tayde Kiser had 15, and Stephen Akase added 10 for Valley, who improved to 15-3 overall and 7-1 in the Three Rivers Conference. Dylan Neese had a season-high seven.
Valley finishes TRC play with a road game against North Miami at 7:45 p.m. Friday.
Josiah Ball scored a game-high 27 points for the Braves (10-6, 2-3). Bauer Maple, who averages 26.8 ppg, added 16. Only once this season has he scored fewer points in a game. A.J. Kelly had 15.
Valley led 38-34 at halftime and extended the lead to 60-50 after three quarters.
Valley is 2-6 against Maconaquah since Maconaquah joined the TRC in the 2015-16 school year.
