Davis scores 11, leads Culver past Trinity Greenlawn

Culver 37, Trinity Greenlawn 30 (Saturday): Freshman Brooke Davis scored 11 points to lead the Culver girls basketball team to a road win over Trinity Greenlawn for coach Adam Neace’s first win.

Amiyah Williams added seven, and Brianna Schlemmer hit a pair of 3-pointers for six. Kassidy Banks added five, Grace Sieber had four, and Maddy Hamilton and Elexa O’Brien scored two each.

After making just four of 13 free throws against South Central in their opener, Culver went 11 for 18 from the line in this game. They also cut their turnovers from 29 against South Central to 23 against Trinity Greenlawn.

Culver led 13-12 at halftime and extended the lead to 22-19 after three quarters.

The teams could meet again in Class 1A, Sectional 50, which Culver will host from Jan. 30-Feb. 3.
