Deardorff leads with 89, but NM finishes 9th at Peru sectional

Led by No. 5 player Kale Deardorff’s 89, the North Miami boys golf team shot a 374 and finished ninth out of 11 complete teams at the Peru sectional at Rock Hollow Golf Club Monday.

Among other North Miami players, Zeph Reshkus had a 92, Gavyn Fritz had a 95, Max Craft had a 98, and Hayden Spin had a 107.

Deardorff’s round included a birdie on the par-4 16th hole.

Western won their third consecutive sectional title with a 331. Southwood (335) and Peru (345) also advanced to the regional at Stonehenge Golf Club in Warsaw on Thursday.

Lewis Cass’ Michael Myers (80) and Cole Rush (81) and Eastern (Greentown)’s Owen Steward (83) had the three lowest scores among individuals on non-advancing teams, and they also advanced to the regional.

Southwood’s Griffin Chambers was the medalist with a 77.

Northwestern, the Three Rivers Conference champion, was fourth with a 348. They had finished 30 strokes ahead of Peru at the TRC tournament on May 16.
