Despite loss to Bremen, Valley coach Shambaugh ‘extremely proud’

Girls tennis

Bremen 3, Tippecanoe Valley 2 (Tuesday): Karley Hallstrom won in straight sets at No. 1 doubles, and Africa Baca and Kinley Crabb won in straight sets at No. 2 doubles for Valley in an Indiana Northern State Conference home loss to Bremen Tuesday.

Bella Parker lost at No. 1 singles, Adela Cerna lost at No. 2 singles, and Maycee Koch lost at No. 3 singles.

Valley was playing without injured No. 1 singles player Savana Miller.

“I am extremely proud of how the girls fought considering we are still without our number one singles player,” Valley coach Zach Shambaugh said in a statement. “Every one of them stepped up and proved something to me. It was awesome to watch.”

Valley won the JV match 3-2.

RESULTS: BREMEN 3, VALLEY 2

Singles

Bella Parker (TV) lost 6-1, 6-2.

Adela Cerna (TV) lost 6-1, 6-0.

Maycee Koch (TV) lost 6-3, 7-5.

Doubles

Karley Hallstrom-Maci Parker (TV) won 6-0, 6-3.

Africa Baca-Kinley Crabb (TV) won 6-1, 6-2.

JV RESULTS: VALLEY 3, BREMEN 2

Singles

Lillie Koch (TV) won 8-2.

Kaytlin Tucker (TV) won 8-4.

Lilyana Ramirez (TV) won 8-0.

Doubles

Riley Abke-Amanda Rivera Roche (TV) lost 8-5.

Jeria Long-Maya Scutchfield (TV) lost 6-1.
