Girls basketball
West Central 33, Caston 30 (Thursday): Madi Douglass scored 10 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and added four steals, but visiting Caston lost to sectional rival West Central in their season opener Thursday.
Grace Colvin added six points, and Allison Craig had five.
Caston made just 1 of 17 3-point tries and just 11 of 29 free throws.
West Central won despite going 4 for 19 from the foul line.
West Central led 15-11 at halftime and extended the lead to 26-19 after three quarters.
