Dunwoody wins both hurdles races, helps Zebras take 3rd at LaPorte

Doran wins long jump, MacLain captures pole vault as Lady Zs also take 3rd

The Rochester girls track team scored 112.5 points and finished third out of eight teams at the Dick Deardurff Invitational at LaPorte Saturday.

Crown Point won with 155.5 points.

Rochester individual winners included Kyra Doran, who won the long jump with a leap of 16-6 ¾, and Maddie MacLain, who won the pole vault with a clearance of 8-0.

Doran was also second in the 100 hurdles, and Maddie Bailon was second in the 400. The 4 x 800 relay team, which consisted of Vivian Miller, Adison Hayes, Dani Ochoa and Allyson Calloway, also was second in 11:22.68.

Third-place finishers included Ella Hake in the high jump, Ashlynn Weyant in the discus and the 4 x 100 relay consisting of Doran, Bailon, Kyla Conley and MacLain.

In the boys meet, Rochester scored 99.5 points and placed third in a field of seven. LaPorte won with 163 points.

Senior Harrison Dunwoody was Rochester’s only individual champion, taking both the 110 hurdles in 15.3 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 42.36 seconds. His 300 hurdles time was a personal best.

Mason Hisey was second in the discus with a throw of 144-0, and the 4 x 800 team of Grant Bailey, Leandro Javier, Evan Rudd and Tyson Wachtmann also took second in 8:46.29.

Placing third were Leandro Javier in the 3,200 and Grayson Miller in the pole vault.
