E. Lewellen hits four treys, scores 22, but North White pulls away in 4th for win

Pioneer holds Winamac scoreless in 2nd quarter, finishes Hoosier North 4-3

Boys basketball

North White 55, Pioneer 45 (Saturday): Ezra Lewellen hit four 3-pointers and scored 22 points, but the visiting Panthers lost to sectional rival North White Saturday.

Drew McKaig and Hunter Klepinger added seven points each.

Pioneer led 23-19 at halftime. The game was tied at 35 after three quarters.

Hunter Pogue had 19 points, Bentley Buschman had 16, and Jeffrey Stevens had 14 for the victorious Vikings.

North White won their fifth straight game to improve to 12-8.

The teams could meet again in a Class 1A, Sectional 52 semifinal at Tri-County on March 5.

Pioneer 51, Winamac 37 (Friday): Brock Robinson scored 10 of his game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter, and Ezra Lewellen added 14 for the Panthers in a Hoosier North road win over Winamac Friday.

Drew McKaig and Hunter Klepinger added nine points each.

Russell Compton scored 11, and Beau Brandt added 10 for Winamac in the loss.

Pioneer outscored Winamac 12-0 in the second quarter in building a 24-11 halftime lead.

Winamac lost to Pioneer for the second straight year.

Pioneer improved to 7-10 and finished Hoosier North play 4-3. Winamac fell to 6-14, 2-5.
