Plymouth 20, Rochester 15 (Tuesday): Colton Ferverda homered, doubled and drove in five runs, and Brady Coleman added three hits and two RBIs for Rochester in a road loss to Plymouth Tuesday.
Jake Seuferer added a single, a double and two RBIs, and Gavin Young and Brant Beck each had a single, a double and an RBI. Tanner Reinartz doubled, walked twice and had two RBIs.
Carson Paulik and Parker Casper each had a single.
The teams combined for 30 hits and 14 walks.
Paulik started on the hill and allowed seven hits and eight runs (four earned) in three innings. He walked four and fanned three. Casper relieved and took the loss, allowing seven hits and nine runs (six earned) in 1 ⅔ innings.
Conner Dunfee got the final out in the fifth, and Young allowed two unearned runs in the sixth.
Rochester pitchers walked seven and hit two batters. The Rochester defense committed seven errors that led to eight unearned runs for Plymouth.
Rochester led 12-9 going into the bottom of the fifth before the Pilgrims countered with eight runs to go ahead for good.
Rochester scored multiple runs in every inning but the sixth.
Rochester’s scheduled home opener against Pioneer Thursday was rained out. They are scheduled to host Culver Academy at 5 p.m. Friday.
