Stults, Morris, Richard, Kindig score in double figures in Dragons’ rout of LaCrosse

Jake Stults scored a game-high 18 points to lead four players in double figures as the Argos boys basketball team routed LaCrosse 64-28 in a Class 1A, Sectional 50 semifinal at Triton Friday.
J.J. Morris added 15, Michael Richard had 12, and Dylan Kindig had 10 for the Dragons, who won their fourth straight game and improved to 17-5.
Kindig also had a team-high eight rebounds.
Ben Garwood scored 16 for LaCrosse, who finished 12-10. LaCrosse came into the game on a four-game winning streak, and they had averaged 67.3 points per game during that streak.
But they were stifled by the Argos defense. Only once prior to Friday had LaCrosse scored fewer than 28 points in a game.
Argos led 13-7 after one quarter and extended the lead to 31-14 at halftime as Stults scored six points, and Richard and Morris each hit a 3-pointer.
Kindig scored six points in the third quarter as the lead reached 53-22.
LaCrosse has not won a sectional game since 2018 and has not won a sectional title since 1991.
No. 12 Argos will play Triton in the sectional final for the fourth straight season. Triton knocked off Culver 39-25 in the second semifinal.
Argos beat Triton in the 2019 and 2020 sectional finals but lost to the Trojans last year. Due to two weather-related postponements, they did not meet in the regular season this year.
