Girls basketball
Tippecanoe Valley 44, John Glenn 24 (Saturday): Gaby Gonzalez hit a pair of 3-pointers in the second half and scored a game-high 14 points, and Kelsey Cox scored all 12 of her points in the second half to lead the host Valley girls basketball team past sectional rival John Glenn Saturday.
Gonzalez and Cox combined for seven of Valley’s eight field goals in the second half.
Chesnee Miller added eight points for the Lady Vikings, who improved to 6-1.
Defensively, Valley is allowing 32.1 points per game, and they have held three of their seven opponents under 30 points. Only Western has scored more than 40 points against the Lady Vikings.
Valley is 3-0 against sectional rivals. Valley will host Rochester, another sectional rival, at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Sofia Romer led John Glenn with 10 points.
This was the teams’ first meeting since Valley beat John Glenn in last year’s sectional final.
In the JV game, John Glenn prevailed 39-27 despite Hadley Wise’s 11 points and Hailey Stookey’s 10. Lindahl Walls added five, and Lillie Koch had one.
