Gottschalk, Smith win at doubles, but Rochester falls to Maconaquah

Boys tennis

Maconaquah 4, Rochester 1 (Wednesday): Luke Gottschalk and Ayden Smith won in straight sets at No. 2 doubles, but the visiting Zebras fell to Maconaquah Wednesday.

Gottschalk and Smith, both sophomores, won their match 6-3, 6-2.

Rochester lost the other four matches in straight sets.

Camden Zink, Griffin Newton and Cash Casper played singles.

Logan Fuller and Jesse Smith played No. 1 doubles.

Fuller is the team’s only senior.

Rochester won the JV match 2-0.

Camden Zink (RHS) lost 6-2, 7-6 (6)

Griffin Newton (RHS) lost 7-5, 6-0.

Cash Casper (RHS) lost 6-1, 6-1.

Doubles

Logan Fuller-Jesse Smith (RHS) lost 6-4, 6-4.

Luke Gottschalk-Ayden Smith (RHS) won 6-3, 6-2.

JV results: Rochester 2, Maconaquah 0

Waylon Thomas (RHS) won 8-6.

Wade Wheadon (RHS) won 8-0.
