Hernandez-Rios sets Grace College indoor 5K mark

Grace College sophomore Bryan Hernandez-Rios was named the National Christian College Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Student Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 1.

Hernandez-Rios ran a 15:21.26 to set a Grace school record in the indoor 5,000 meters at the Indiana Wesleyan University Midwest Classic in Marion Saturday.

Hernandez-Rios also set a personal record of 8:45.97 in the 3,000 meters in an indoor meet at Indiana Tech on Jan. 29.

Hernandez-Rios is a 2019 Caston grad.

Junior high girls basketball

Caston 40, Winamac 16 (6th grade, Monday): Jada Martz scored 20 points, and Madi Douglass added 14 for the Caston sixth-graders in a win over Winamac Monday. Aubrey Gearhart added four, and Ariyana Kahlmorgan had two.

Caston led 16-0 after one quarter.
