Softball
South Central (Union Mills) 4, Argos 1 (Saturday): Maddie Overmeyer had an RBI double in the fourth inning, but the Lady Dragons fell to host South Central in the Class 1A, Sectional 51 final Saturday.
Ava Stackhouse and Ivy Stackhouse also had doubles for Argos, who finished 9-12. Ava Stackhouse scored the lone run.
South Central scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. Maddy Cleek’s sacrifice fly drove in Caitlin Allen, who had tripled. Ashlen Strauch scored later in the inning on a wild pitch.
South Central increased the lead to 4-1 in the fifth. All three baserunners that inning reached on errors, including an error with runners on second and third and two outs that led to two unearned runs.
South Central’s Lexi Johnson, a Toledo recruit, pitched a three-hitter with 16 strikeouts. South Central did not commit an error.
South Central (19-6) will host Fremont in a regional Tuesday.
Argos has never won a sectional title in softball.
