Iverson, Popejoy star as Winamac improves to 2-0 in Hoosier North

Winamac 33, Culver 18 (Tuesday): Marissa Iverson scored 14 points, and Sadie Popejoy added 10 as the Winamac girls basketball team improved to 2-0 in the Hoosier North with a road win over Culver Tuesday.

Kandace Kroft added six, all in the first quarter.

Winamac jumped out to a 16-3 lead after one quarter and extended the lead to 23-9 at halftime.

Iverson outscored the entire Culver team 7-6 in the third quarter as the lead reached 30-15.

Ashlynn Berndt hit a pair of 3-pointers and led Culver with six points.

Five of Culver’s six field goals were 3-pointers.

Winamac made more free throws (seven) than Culver attempted (two).
