Argos athletic director Jason Breden said that the school hopes to have a new girls basketball coach in place at its April school board meeting.

Breden said interviews will start after the school returns from spring break. Argos is currently on spring break. School resumes March 26.

Scott Jennings stepped down after a four-season run as coach last month in which Argos compiled a 49-46 record.

Argos went 10-13 in 2023-24. The season ended with a 44-37 loss to Triton in the Class 1A, Sectional 50 semifinals on Feb. 2.

Argos won sectional titles in 2022 and 2023 and the Hoosier Plains conference title in 2022 during Jennings’ tenure.

The team graduated Baleigh Binkley, Emma Dunlap, Bella Stults and Kayla Moore from the 2023 team that lost in overtime to Washington Township in the regional.

Without them, Samantha Redinger emerged as the state’s top scorer, averaging 29.8 points per game. She finished the season with 685 points and her career with 1,283.

Redinger had four games of 40 or more points and two games of 50 or more, including a 55-point performance against Oregon-Davis on Jan. 11 on senior night that broke her own school record.

The new coach will proceed without Redinger and Alesia Sarver, who also graduates.

Argos has won at least 10 games in 12 of the last 14 seasons. Argos has won five sectional titles in its history, all since 2006.

Argos will move from the Hoosier Plains to the Hoosier North Athletic Conference in 2024-25.

Jennings is a 1982 Argos grad.
