Kiser scores 25, but Valley’s season ends with loss to John Glenn

John Glenn 68, Tippecanoe Valley 55 (Tuesday): Tayde Kiser scored a game-high 25 points, but the No. 10 Vikings lost to John Glenn in a Class 3A, Sectional 18 quarterfinal at Knox Tuesday.

Kiser made 8 of 27 field goal attempts and went 6 for 6 from the foul line.

Riley Shepherd added nine points, and top scorer Nolan Cumberland was held to eight. Stephen Akase had five points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Valley shot 32 percent from the field.

Brycen Hannah went 7 for 8 from the field and scored 21 points to lead the Falcons, who avenged a 55-43 loss to Valley on Dec. 10. Hannah also had a team-high nine rebounds.

Noah Dreibelbeis added 14 points, and Chase Miller and Carson Krueger had 11 each.

John Glenn shot 50 percent from the field and made more free throws (21) than Valley attempted (18).

The game was tied at 24 at halftime. John Glenn went on a 12-2 run in the third quarter to build the lead to 42-29. It was 44-31 after three quarters, and the lead stayed in double digits the entire fourth quarter.

John Glenn led by as many as 17 in the fourth quarter.

Seniors Kiser, Cumberland, Cooper Walls and Dylan Neese played their final games for Valley, who finished 18-6.

John Glenn (14-10) will meet Bremen (2-20) in a semifinal at 8 p.m. Eastern Friday. John Glenn beat Bremen 71-41 on Feb. 17.

Knox and Culver Academy will meet in the first semifinal at 6:30 p.m. Eastern.

The Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team went 18-6 overall and 8-1 in the Three Rivers Conference in 2022-23. They won the TRC for the first time since 2015 and the outright conference title for the first time since 2014. The season ended with a 68-55 loss to John Glenn in a Class 3A, Sectional 18 quarterfinal at Knox.
