Kroft breaks Winamac single-game 3-point mark, combined with Popejoy for 13 treys in rout of N. Newton

Winamac 69, North Newton 24 (Tuesday): Kandace Kroft broke the Winamac single-game record for 3-pointers with eight and scored a game-high 31 points, and Sadie Popejoy hit five treys and added 20 points in a rout of host North Newton Tuesday.
Marissa Iverson added nine points.
Winamac hit 14 3-pointers as a team. Winamac (3-0) has made 28 3-pointers in three games while their opponents have made one.
Kroft’s sister Kingsley held the previous school record with seven 3-pointers.
Winamac led 53-12 at halftime. Kroft then scored all eight of Winamac’s points in the third quarter as the lead reached 61-16.
Winamac will host Caston in their Hoosier North opener at 7 p.m. Saturday.
