Lady Panthers wallop 6 HRs, beat Faith Christian in 5 to improve to 1-1

Softball

Pioneer 19, Faith Christian 2 (5 innings, Tuesday): Mackenzie Walker and Hailey Cripe hit two homers each, and Madison Blickenstaff and Hailey Gotshall also went deep for Pioneer in a win over Faith Christian in their home opener Tuesday.

Walker finished with four hits, four RBIs and four runs scored. Cripe had three hits, two RBIs and three runs scored. Emma Novaski and Kylie Farris had two hits each.

Novaski, Blickenstaff, Jocelynn Vincent, Emilie Schmaltz and Carlie Morris had one RBI each.

Novaski, Farris and Blickenstaff scored two runs each.

Cripe pitched three hitless innings with two walks and seven strikeouts and got the win. Crystabelle Blickenstaff allowed two hits and two runs (one earned) in two innings of relief. She walked one and fanned three.

Delphi 5, Pioneer 4 (Saturday): Hailey Gotshall had two doubles, an RBI and a run scored, and Hailey Cripe and Adeline Cripe also had two hits and an RBI, but the host Lady Oracles held off the Lady Panthers Saturday.

Kylie Farris had a double and a run scored. Mackenzie Walker and Mackenzie Robinson each had a hit.

Gotshall took the loss in the circle, despite striking out 12 and walking one in six innings. Two of the runs she allowed were unearned.

Pioneer scored three runs in the top of the seventh to cut into a 5-1 deficit, but Delphi held on for the win.

Libbie Smith and Meghan Pearson had two hits each, and Paige Corbin and Hailey Sutton had two RBIs each for Delphi, who scored all of their runs in the second inning. Freshman Alexis Miller got the win in the circle.

Pioneer 11, Logansport 3: Hailey Gotshall had four hits – two singles and two doubles – and an RBI at the plate and also pitched a five-hitter with 13 strikeouts for the visiting Lady Panthers in a win over Logansport Thursday.

Hailey Cripe and Mackenzie Walker each had a single, a double and three RBIs.

Madison Blickenstaff had a single and an RBI. Brooklyn Borges had two singles. Emma Novaski had a double.

Pioneer, who led 9-0 after three innings, improved to 2-1.

Clinton Central at Pioneer, canceled: The Clinton Central-Pioneer baseball game scheduled for Thursday was canceled.

Pioneer-North White start moved up: The Pioneer-North White baseball doubleheader scheduled for Saturday will now start at 10 a.m. at North White.
