Lady Zs sweep North Judson, will face Culver Academy in sectional final

Rochester 5, North Judson 0 (Wednesday): The three Rochester singles players dropped just five games combined, and Rochester’s doubles teams also won in straight sets in a blanking of North Judson in a Culver Academy sectional semifinal Wednesday.

Ella McCarter avenged a loss to Sophia Frasure in the season opener and won 6-1, 6-1. Rily Holloway handled Olivia Burkett 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Rylee Clevenger knocked off Sao Susuki 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

Olivia Bailey and Audrey Bolinger won the No. 1 doubles match over Grace Craig and Emily Grundlach 6-4, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Taylor Howard and Elizabeth Weaver defeated Rose Hileman and Sandy Roblero 6-0, 7-5.

Rochester (9-6) will play Culver Academy, a 5-0 winner over Knox, in the sectional final at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Culver Academy has won four straight sectionals and has not lost a sectional match since falling to Rochester in the 2017 sectional final.

The Rochester girls tennis team improved to 9-6 with a 5-0 win over North Judson in a Culver Academy sectional semifinal Wednesday. The Lady Zs will play Culver Academy in the sectional final at 5:30 p.m. today. Rochester is in search of their first sectional title since winning back-to-back sectionals in 2016 and 2017.
