Lady Zs to play Roncalli in Kokomo tourney opener

The Rochester softball team will play Roncalli in the first round of the eight-team Kokomo tournament at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The game will be played on Field No. 2 at Kokomo.

Rochester will play two more games on Saturday. Their first game will be at noon against either Illiana Christian or Westfield.

If Rocheter beats Roncalli, they will play the Illiana Christian-Westfield winner on Field No. 1. If Rochester loses to Roncalli, they will play the Illiana Christian-Westfield loser on Field No. 2.

Rochester’s second game on Saturday will be against Kokomo, Covenant Christian, Delta or Bellmont.

The Lady Zs are ranked No. 9 in Class 2A.

Roncalli is 6-1 and ranked No. 3 in Class 3A. They are coming off a 22-8 season last year. 

Illiana Christian is No. 14 in Class 3A, and Westfield is No. 14 in Class 4A.

Kokomo, Covenant Christian, Delta and Bellmont are unranked.
