The Tippecanoe Valley girls golf team shot a 389 and placed seventh out of 15 teams at the East Noble regional at Noble Hawk Golf Links in Kendallville Friday.
Madelyn Weaver led Valley with an 88. Kaydence Mellott had a 91, Lily Ault had a 102, Molly Moriarty had a 108, and Maddie Thompson had a 120.
Culver Academy won the regionals with a 302. Homestead (315) and Carroll (Fort Wayne) (318) also advanced to the state finals at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel on Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
Fort Wayne Dwenger’s Amelia Frazier (70) and DeKalb’s Lillie Cone (75) had the two lowest scores among players on non-advancing teams, and they also advanced to state as individuals.
Culver Academy’s Lynne Zhang was the medalist with a 67.
Valley was competing in their second regional in school history. They were 18th out of 18 teams with a 408 back in 2020.
Weaver, Mellott, Ault and Moriarty were also part of the history-making Valley team in 2020.
