Boys basketball

Rochester seniors Grant McCarter, Kyle Reinartz and Quin Stesiak were all selected first-team all-Three Rivers Conference in voting done by the conference’s coaches and released on the conference’s website.

In addition, sophomore Tarick McGlothin earned honorable mention status.

Rochester won the conference title with a 9-0 record.

Baseball

Plymouth 5, Rochester 2 (Tuesday): Kyle Reinartz doubled, and Tarick McGlothin and Brock Beehler singled for Rochester in a home loss to Plymouth Tuesday.

Grant McCarter had an RBI. McGlothin and Reinartz each scored a run.

Matt Dobuck had three hits and four RBIs for Plymouth.

Tanner Feece got the win for Plymouth. He allowed two hits and two earned runs in six innings. He walked one and struck out six.

Reinartz took the loss after allowing three hits and four earned runs in six innings. Brayden Zink pitched the seventh.

Rochester is 3-3. They have lost three straight.

John Glenn 4-10, Rochester 1-0 (Saturday): John Glenn swept a doubleheader from Rochester Saturday, winning the first game 4-1 and the second game 10-0 in five innings.

John Glenn’s Colin Stephens pitched a no-hitter in Game 2. He threw 60 pitches, 43 of which were strikes. Stephens faced 16 batters, one more than the minimum. The only Rochester baserunner reached on an error.

Tarick McGlothin took the loss on the mound after allowing six hits and six runs (all earned) in two innings. Aaron Huffman made his season mound debut and allowed three hits and three earned runs in 2 ⅓ innings.

Rochester pitchers walked eight, hit two batters and threw two wild pitches.

In Game 1, John Glenn’s Brycen Hannah pitched a five-hitter with no walks and eight strikeouts. Evan Elliott had two hits, and Ethan Medina, Kyle Reinartz and Brayden Zink had one hit each. Brock Beehler scored the lone run in the fourth inning.

LaVille 3, Rochester 2 (Tuesday): Hannah Houston won in straight sets at No. 1 singles, and Carli Richard and Ryli Rouch won in straight sets at No. 2 doubles for Rochester in a season-opening loss to LaVille Tuesday.

Kim Banic and Kylie Houston lost at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively. Molly Conley and Lilli Eaton lost at No. 1 doubles.

The JV match ended in a 2-2 tie.

Madilyn Calloway won the 800 and the 1,600, and she also ran a leg on the victorious 4 x 800 relay for the Rochester girls as they took third in a three-way meet against Wabash and host Manchester Tuesday.

In the boys meet, Rochester junior Marshall Fishback won both the discus and shot put. His shot put toss of 43-6 was a personal best by six feet, according to Rochester coach Ryan Helt.

Braxton Mencias set personal bests in the long jump and 200 meters. Zach Pickens set a personal best in the 400 meters in 53.19 seconds.

RHS heads to the Oak Hill Relays Saturday.

Boys golf

Rochester takes 3rd at Rochester Invite (Saturday): The Rochester boys golf team shot a 175 over nine holes and finished third out of 14 teams at the Rochester Invitational at Round Barn Golf Club at Mill Creek Saturday.

Reece Renie led RHS with a 39, which was good enough for second place overall. Wade Shafer had a 41, Drew Strasser had a 47, J.R. McGlochlin had a 48, and Dryden Vance had a 52.

The tournament was shortened to nine holes due to inclement weather. Tipton won the tournament with a 164. Maconaquah’s Hayden Williamson was the medalist with a 37.

Bremen-RHS game moved to April 30: The Bremen-Rochester softball game scheduled for May 6 has been moved up to April 30. Game time is 5:30 p.m. at Fansler Field.
