McKaig scores 27 for Pioneer in loss to West Central

West Central 77, Pioneer 44 (Friday): Drew McKaig scored 27 points, but the visiting Panthers gave up a season high in points in a loss to West Central Friday.

Caleb Sweet added eight points, and Rylahn Toloza had six.

Sophomore Christian Hughes led West Central with 30 points. Ayden White had 18, Bryce Nannenga had 14, and Carter Lewark had 13.

West Central led 22-7 after one quarter and extended the lead to 40-17.

Pioneer (2-13) lost their sixth straight game. Their 16-game winning streak against West Central was snapped. This was Pioneer’s first loss to West Central since January 2011.
