Nick Medich has returned for a second stint as the girls basketball coach at Argos.
Argos athletic director Damon Binkley informed RTC of the hire in an email.
Medich, who is also Argos’ principal, replaces Brian Jennings, who stepped down after one season. He will be Argos’ fourth coach since Gary Teel retired following the 2017-18 season.
Medich’s previous head coaching experience came with the Argos girls from 2010-12. His teams went 23-20 and lost to Triton in the sectional both years. Top players during that time included Latisha Shepherd, Jami Patterson, Kayla Prochno and Libby Moyer.
The Argos team he is taking over went 7-16 last year. They will need to replace the graduated Morgyn Barcus and Alydiah Leed but will return forward Ellie Bollenbacher and guards Leah Pizzuto and Lexi Gibson as well as reserves Kinzlee Kelly and Haley Shafer.
Medich is a 1996 John Glenn grad, where he played basketball for coach Gordon Mosson. High school teammates include current Triton boys coach Jason Groves. Mosson later was the Argos boys coach from 2014-21.
Medich also was previously the Argos baseball coach for one season.
Girls basketball practice begins statewide Oct. 20.
